Set Timer

Set a timer for any length you want

This page lets you build a countdown timer for any duration. Dial in the exact hours, minutes and seconds, choose what happens at zero, and start. If you would rather not set it by hand, pick one of the ready-made lengths and it starts with a single click.

Two ways to set your timer

  1. By length: choose hours, minutes and seconds for a plain countdown — great for cooking or a workout.
  2. By date and time: count down to a moment in the future, such as a birthday or a deadline.

Ready-made lengths to start in one click

These common lengths save you the setup:

Tip: Not sure how long a task really takes? Run the stopwatch once to measure it, then set a timer for that length next time.

When a timer beats an alarm

Reach for a timer when the length matters more than the clock. “Ring in 20 minutes” is a timer; “ring at 7:00 AM” is an alarm. If your countdown is tied to a real date, like a holiday, the main timer and our holiday countdowns handle that too.

Setting a timer — common questions

What is the longest timer I can set?

You can set many hours at once by entering hours, minutes and seconds together. For very long waits tied to a calendar date, count down to a date and time instead.

Can I make the timer repeat automatically?

Yes. Choose Restart the timer for the zero action and it will run the same countdown again, which is handy for interval workouts.

How is this different from the main timer page?

The timer page is ready to run right away with popular presets. This page is the full builder, where you set every second and decide what happens when it ends.
